The one that particularly set me off was the 2-stage Moka/Lubella fight in the beginning. The boss fights also felt like they dragged on too long because they felt a bit bullet spongy on the hardest difficulty and they kept doing the same attacks over and over. The boss attacks were super clearly telegraphed, which made them satisfying to learn but having to learn them was frustrating in the first place because I was getting one shot by most boss attacks on the hardest difficulty. I started it on the highest difficulty you were allowed to start the game with and I still found the combat way too easy.

The combat mechanics don't really evolve throughout the game, not to mention they were already very standard metroidvania combat mechanics to begin with. The only neat mechanic I found was the one where consumables refill at each checkpoint. I'm usually super into metroidvanias and I've played a lot of them, but from a gameplay perspective it doesn't have any interesting or unique enough mechanics that sets it apart from other metroidvanias. It was short and compelling enough for me to play it from start to finish in just a few sittings but I have to say I didn't find that it particularly stood out to me. Please check it out if you are into the soulsborne series, maybe a Castlevania or Metroidvania fan, or just cute indie games. I believe I didn't finished any npc questline because I would have needed to turn to a guide and I just didn't want to stop playing. NPC's all have their own quest and maybe you can help them from time to time and they, in turn, maybe will help you. The story is presented to you thourhg npc's dialogue and enviaroments, don't let the cute art style fool you. Momodora wears its influences on its sleeve, from Cave Story to Dark Souls (the latter being a mayor influence in this game). a whole fucking better than I expected it to be. The levels are very well done, the atmosphere is top noch and the story is. I plays out very simplisticly but it works so so well.

The game is a metroidvania of sorts (forth game in the Momodora series but since this is a prequel I didn't stress too much about playing the first 3), 2d hack n slash with some different abilities you gain access further in the game. The first few levels are super simple but the controls work so well and, my god, that art style. But, funny thing is, I couldn't put it down. I wasn't entirely sure what I wanted to play next but checking that this game was super short (6 hrs give or take but there content for a lot more hours) I started it up just to check it out so I could get a feel of the game and maybe have a fresher memory of it and how it plays for the time I did eventually would commit to play it fully. Luckily I added it for my 12in12 backlog list and the time came. but I was already thinking that this game would be left in my backlog forever untouched. Bought it because it was waaaay too cheap and the art style looked beautiful.
